In honor of Obama’s Congressional speech on health care tonight, I’m putting the spotlight on the NOLA-based Women With A Vision. WWAV is a health education organization dedicating to promoting wellness for women, particularly young women and girls of color. The organization has workshops on grassroots organizing, queer political history in New Orleans, Safer Sex classes, and the Our Space project, a judgement-free community for young women impacted by the sex trade and street economies.
Things are critical health-wise right now, and young women of color are in the crux of it. Twentysomethings are definitely getting involved–earlier this summer, the Tulane School of Public Health hosted a WWAV fundraiser. If you live in NOLA, be sure to check out what WWAV is up to.
